February 2025

February marks the release of the new Magic set; Aetherdrift! This is a brand new Standard set, that is themed around a multiplanar race with the grand prize being a Planeswalker’s spark. There are a ton of returning mechanics, with a special focus on vehicles, and some exciting new ones.

Max speed is a new mechanic that scales up as you damage your opponent, and has payoffs after reaching “Max Speed”. Additionally, a new mechanic called Exhaust is being introduced, exhaust abilities are activated abilities that can only ever be activated one time. Full spoilers should be out by now, so go check out some of the new cards!

As far as events there’s the traditional pre-release for this set. We’ll be holding our first prerelease event on Friday 7th at 6:30 pm with another on Saturday 8th at both 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Finally, our last prerelease will be held on Sunday 9th at 2:00 pm.

The following week we’ll be holding drafts for Aetherdrift as well, on both February 14th at 6:30 and February 15th at 1:00. I’ve always enjoyed the design space of vehicles, so this set is sure to be a blast!
