November is a big month for set releases! Starting on the 2nd we’ve got the Lord of the Rings holiday release available. The Holiday Release has four new “Scene art” gift boxes. These contain six new cards, that when combined together form an iconic scene from Lord of the Rings.

In addition, a second wave of collector booster with new “scroll showcase” cards is released as well. The big release this month is Lost Caverns of Ixalan, our newest standard set release.

Lost Caverns is our return to Ixalan and the four tribal archetypes (Dinosaurs, Vampires, Merfolk, and Pirates) as well as the two new mechanics of Descent and Discover. Descent is a self-mill keyword that cares about putting permanents into your graveyard and discover is a new take on cascade, allowing you to reveal cards until you reveal a non-land of a specified mana value or less, then either letting you cast or draw the card.

There’s been a ton of exciting reprints and new-to-standard cards revealed so far, so I strongly recommend you check out the spoilers for the set.

Pre-release begins on Friday, November 10th at 6:30 pm, continues on Saturday, November 11th at Noon and 5:00 pm, and finally on Sunday, November 12th at 1:00 pm. Release week events will be a draft on both Friday and Saturday, starting at 6:30 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Saturday. As always playing in both the release and the prerelease enters you into a raffle for a free box of Ixalan set boosters. I really do want to emphasize, Ixalan is gearing up to be a pretty spectacular set so I’d go check out some of the cards when you can.
