Employees' Choice for Games of the Year 2024

With 2025 here, we decided to look back at our past year of gaming and what games we really loved the most. Let's take a look at our top games of 2024.

Kylie's Choice: Sky Team- Since it's only a two-player game it helped me connect with my husband more as we tried to solve landing at the different airports. And since a big part of the game is chance it made it an actual challenge for us. It made us use our brains in some ways too.

Glen's Choice: Ezra and Nehemiah This was a great year of great games, but if I only get one, I think I have to pick this; it is a great “remix” and “best of” the Garphill Games mechanics — resource management, multi-use cards, variable player powers, and choosing the best path to victory knowing you can’t be good at all the things.

Ethan's Choice: Slay the Spire Board Game- This wonderful cooperative experience, is complex and difficult enough to let each person make their own decisions without "overloading" while being simple enough for most people to pick up.

Caleb's Choice: Dune Imperium- I loved it, my friend group has enjoyed both deck-building games and worker placement, so this game was perfect. I enjoy the deck building in this game because it has so much depth for both building the engine for your deck and placing your workers. There are a bunch of expansions and the “sequel” game of Dune Uprising which can add more content as well.

Scott's Choice: Arcs- Arcs is another super fun game from Leder who just keeps crushing it overall. It’s a territory control and objective-based game with some very fun unique mechanics. I particularly like the way they handle action economy in Arcs; you either get sway on which action is being taken by the table or get to do multiple actions.

Daniel's Choice: Troika- An insanely creative and bizarre science-fantasy TTRPG. I'm a big fan of games that allow me to explore the limits of my creativity and this game does that from the very start. Troika's bizarre world, magic, and character create genuinely interesting/silly scenarios and motivations that will have everyone guessing what's to come. you can also play it solo with some oracles.

Pablo's Choice: Daybreak- A game with a theme that is extremely on the nose, Daybreak is a cooperative game that others should look to. Working together, each player must do its best to reduce the country's emissions and convert to green energy solutions as housing needs increase. Work together to deal with global crises, plant more trees, and enact global policies to curb climate change. Cards even have QR codes that link back to real-world policies and initiatives that nations are implementing to save our world.
